Fairways Target Golf Leagues

Trilight continue to shine on Monday nights but it was a close run thing this week. All the matches had evenly matches teams although the scores were vastly different in each game. The Underdogs were second highest scorers with a creditable 40 shots on a night when the 3 hardest targets were in play but they were up against the Specialists who excelled in the difficult conditions and their total of 76 is an amazing achievement. Northern Ironmongery stumbled against BM Trucks whose final ball in the GolfCross net secured the victory by just 6 shots. But the Trilight good fortune continued as they won a again for the third time this season by a margin of 2 shots or less. Their total of 13 would normally have consigned them to also ran’s but the Fairhurst Fore will be kicking themselves all the way home as they managed to accumulate only 11. Fairhurst have the unique record of scoring less each week than they did in the previous one and we hope that this does not continue. These results, the Loch Ness Juniors had the bye, mean that as long as Trilight scores at least one point next week, for it is they who have the bye, then the league title will be theirs. Following behind are BM Trucks, Specialists and Juniors on 6 points with Northern Iron and Fairhurst on 4 points. With 2 games still to go and all these teams playing against each other predicting the second qualifier for the playoffs will be no easy task.

Fairhurst Fore 11 – 13 Trilight; Specialists 76 – 40 The Underdogs; Northern Ironmongery 23 – 29 BM Trucks; Loch Ness Juniors (Bye) 34.

The Tuesday night teams found the targets as equally hard as the Monday teams did but there was still some exciting score lines. None more so than Raigmore Motel and the Old Swingers who both managed 4 balls each in the targets with the Old Swingers even managing a ball in the GolfCross net. However it was Raigmore who took the points by the slimmest of margins – just one shot. This pushed Raigmore into 3rd place and the Old Swingers down into 4th. The top two teams were playing the bottom two teams and the games both went with the form book. Fairways still haven’t recaptured any of their winter season form and the Luckless Leadbetters took the points comfortably as they recorded the night’s highest score. Likewise the Grumps saw off the Coastguards and both teams retained their positions at the top and the bottom of the table respectively. There are still another 5 games to go so no teams is out of yet but some are going to have to pull their socks up soon.

Fairways 33 – 50 Luckless Leadbetter’s; Grumps 44 – 21 Coastguards: Raigmore Motel 25 – 24 Old Swingers.
