TEAM WOULD RANK AS
GREAT ACHIEVEMENT
- TERRY MATHIESON
Beaten finalist in the 2006 Scottish mid-amateur championship ... beaten semi-finalist in the Scottish amateur championship of 2002 ... and a regular member of the North-east District team of six for several years.
Yet Aberdonian Terry Mathieson, who has moved home to the Edinburgh area, reckons it will rank as one of his greatest golfing achievements if he is able to force his way into the all-conquering Lothians district team this year.
"They have so many good players to choose from, that even having a +1 handicap won't get me even a reserve place!" said Mathieson.
Terry, pictured right, has changed jobs from the Aberdeen Kings Links Golf Centre to become retail manager/golf administrator at the King's Acre Golf Centre so that he can be near his girl friend who is now a student at Edinburgh University.
"I will be playing out of King's Acre Golf Club this coming season instead of Murcar Links so that's the first step in getting into the Lothians team."
"I've not been getting much golf, mainly due to the weather but I have been practising a lot and working on my swing with Alan Murdoch (the director of golf at King's Acre)," said Terry.

+Incidentally, "Golfview.com" apologises to Terry Mathieson for failing to remember that he holds the North-east Alliance low-scoring record with a 58 at the Inverallochy meetng of February 5, 2005.
Yesterday, we erroneously credited Ronnie McDonald (Inchmarlo) with the record after he had a round of 60 - also over the Inverallochy winter course on Wednesday.
