CRYER NOW LEADING UK PLAYER
IN AUSTRALIAN EVENT

England's Matthew Cryer, winner of last week's event on the Australian amateur circuit, took over from Craig Watson and Gary Wolstenholme as the leading United Kingdom player after the second round of the Lake Macquarie amateur championship at Belmont Golf Club, Newcastle in New South Wales.
Cryer shot one of the second day's lowest rounds - a four-under-par 68 - for a 36-hole tally of level par 144, which earned him a share of 25th place behind New Zealander Danny Lee who retained his overnight lead with a 67 for 11-under-par 133.
Lee leads by five shots from Australian Tim Stewart who has scored 70 and 78.
