MIDAS TOUR PRESS RELEASE

NEW MEN'S PRO TOUR IN SOUTH OF ENGLAND FROM APRIL TO OCTOBER

A new professional golf tour aims to provide a stepping stone for the sport’s rising stars.
The Midas Tour will consist of 18 events throughout 2008, including an end-of-season pro-am competition.
The tour gets under way at Orchardleigh Golf Club, Frome, Somerset, on April 8 and 9, and will include events across the South of England and the Midlands, with two-day 36-hole tournaments at some of the country’s most attractive courses.
Professional golfer Paul Seymour, pictured right, who has created the tour, said: “As a pro, I know that players really want to be able to play in strong, competitive tournaments without depending on sponsors with deep pockets.”
“We’re giving young, ambitious professionals a stepping stone into the EuroPro and European Challenge Tours by taking part in a highly competitive, professionally-run tour, and the chance to win good prize money too,” added Seymour, who has played on several pro tours and run his own golf school
The expected first prize at each event will be around £2,000, with a minimum of £1,000 if the entry is below 100.
Seymour, who is based in Devon, has been playing golf since he was 13, and became an assistant professional when he left school. After a career in the RAF, he returned to professional golf and also now runs his own web design and internet promotions business.
