LITTLE PROSPERS BUT LEE MISSES
FIRST EURO TOUR CUT
IN SOUTH AFRICA

While Scot Euan Little has prospered in the South Africa Open championship at Pearl Valley on the Western Cape, rookie Europe Tour card-holder Craig Lee has missed his first cut in an event under the auspices of the European Tour.
Little, from Stranraer, escaped with a par-72 from the wild wind that blew a lot of first-round scores into the 80s and he had another 72 today for 144 to be in joint fourth position at the halfway stage, only two shots behind the pace-making South African, James Kington (73-69).
Little birdied the second, fifth, 11th and 13th and had cancelling-out bogeys at the sixth, seventh, 12th and 14th.
Lee, pictured right, on the other hand, could not make up the ground lost with that wind-rossed 81 on Thursday - but with only hole to play in the second round he did have a chance to squeeze into the qualifiers for the last two rounds.
A par 5 at the 18th would have given the Stirling man a par 72 and a 36-hole tally of 153. That would have made the cut with nothing to spare. Sadly, Lee ran up a double bogey 7 at the last for a 74 and a two-round total of 155.
In the first round he had a double bogey 6 at the second.
Peter Whiteford from Kirkcaldy did make the cut despite failing to break 80 in his first round. A 71 today got him under the barrier on 151. Alan McLean also made it through, also with an 80 followed by a 71.
David Drysdale was a third Scot to be eliminated. He had a 36-hole total of 159 with an 82 and a a 77.
