MARTIN LAIRD JOINT SIXTH IN NATIONWIDE
TOUR SEASON-ENDING EVENT IN CALIFORNIA

Welshman Richard Johnson leads and Scot Martin Laird is in joint sixth place with one round to go in the season-ending Nationwide Tour championship in California.
The top 25 in the money table at the end of the tournament will automatically be promoted to the US PGA Tour for next season. Johnson, sixth in the table, and Laird, 15th coming into this event, are certain to make the leading 25.
Johnson had a third-round 67 for 16-under-par 197. Incredibly his third round included a quadruple bogey at the 11th and a bogey at the 12th.
Laird had a 67 for 200. After birdies at the 10th, 13th and 14th and an eagle 3 at the 17th, the former Scottish youths champion from Glasgow stumbled at the last with a bogey, his first of the tournament, although he did have a double bogey at the 11th in the first round.
Laird is a long hitter but leader Johnson is even longer. He averaged 311 yards off the tee on Saturday and had only 27 putts.
