LEE HARPER TOP SCOT IN EIGHTH PLACE
IN PGA EUROPRO TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
It was an England 1-3-4 in the PGA EuroPro Tour championship over the Torrance Course at Fairmont St Andrews (formerly St Andrews Bay) today.
Andrew Willey won the £20,000 jackpot prize in the wind-shortened tournament over 36 holes of the Torrance Course on the clifftop venue. He scored 71 and 69 for a four-under-par total of 140.
Runner-up, two shots adrift, was compatriot Matthew Cort with 72 and 70 for 142, which earned him a tidy £10,000.
Best of the Scots who made it to the championship was former Scottish boys match-play champion, Lee Archer (Archerfield Links), a winner on the PGA EuroPro a month or two back. Lee scored 783 and 72 for joint eighth place on 145. He picked up a cheque for £1,090.
The Doherty brothers from South Wales finished on 148 and 150 respectively.
Jack the Older scored 73 and 75 for a share of 20th place and £520 while Paul the Younger, a former Scottish boys match-play champion, put together scores of 76 and 74 for joint 27th place and a pay-out of 410.
Elliot Saltman let it slip from an opening 73 to a 77 for 150 which gave him 27th equal place and also a £410 cheque.
