BYRNE'S DISAPPOINTING DEBUT ON US
COLLEGE CIRCUIT (one triple, five doubles)

Banchory teenager James Byrne has not had the happiest of debuts on the American college golf circuit.
A freshman student at Arizona State University, 18-year-old James had rounds of 74, 74 and 78 for a 16-over-par total of 226 in Olympia Fields Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club, Illinois.
He finished joint 43rd in a field of 60 after requiring 43 shots, including three double-bogey 6s, to cover the second nine holes in his final round.
Over the three rounds, Byrne had one triple bogey and five double bogeys.
The tournament was won by American Walker Cup player Rickie Fowler (Oklahoma State) with 70, 63 and 70 for seven-under-par 203, winning by one shot from Spaniard Jorge Campillo (Indiana).
Charles Ford (Tennessee) from Leicesdter and Tom Oliver (Purdue) from Nottighasm) tied for seventh place on 217. Ford had a very good final round of 69.
Chris Paisley (Tennessee) from Newcastle finished jt 18th on 220.
Arizona State finished joint ninth in the team event, 30 shots behind winners Oklahoma State.
