TROPHY AT DEESIDE
Murcar Links won the Deeside Golf Club invitation foursomes tournament for the magnificent Dalswinton Trophy for the second year in a row with three of the same four-man line-up from 2006.
Bryan Innes, Billy Main and Anthony Bews repeated last year’s success with the substation of Neil McKinnon for Terry Mathieson.
The windy conditions showed in the final totals. Last year Murcar Links won with a total of 286. This year it was 297 with Innes and Main putting together rounds of 73 and 72 for 145, while Bews and McKinnon had a pair of 76s for 152.
They won by seven shots from hosts Deeside with Newmachar (313) third – which meant it was a repeat of last year’s 1-2-3 placings.
+The ornate Dalswinton Trophy, pictured above, is so valuable that for insurance purposes it never leaves the Deeside clubhouse. The winners are presented with the trophy and then they have to hand it back immediately and it goes back under lock and key for another year.
