MONTGOMERIE IN CONTENTION AGAIN
AT EUROPEAN OPEN IN IRELAND

Colin Montgomerie has followed up his good performance in last week's French Open by taking up joint second place at the halfway stage in the Smurfit Kappa European Open at the Smurfit Course, K Club, Straffan, Ireland.
Colin has had rounds of 69 and 64 for a seven-under-par total of 133 over a course that has been shortened to a par 70 because of rainwater damage to the fairways.
Marc Warren, Paul Lawrie and Alastair Forsyth were the other Scots who got inside the halfway cut figure of 141.
