Andrew McLachlan from Eastwood Golf Club, Newton Mearns finished fifth in the English Under-16 boys' open stroke-play tournament which was reduced from four rounds to 54 holes because of relentless rain at Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club, Lancashire.
Andrew, today's picture on right by courtesy of TOM WARD, had rounds of 75, 73 and 76 for a total of 224 - six shots behind the winner, Bristol boy Adam Carson (Long Ashton), who won the McGregor Trophy by five with rounds of 73, 70 and 75 for two-over-par 218.
But McLachlan was only one shot behind the three lads who tied for second place, Hugo Menendez (Spain), Tom Lewis (Mid Herts) and Max Smith from Newbury on 223.
David Law from Hazlehead, Aberdeen finished joint 21st on 231 with scores of 74, 78 and 79.
Christopher Robb (Inchmarlo) tied for 31st place with 74, 80 and 80 for 234 and Tom Blennerhassett (Dalmahoy) came joint 37th among the 48 qualifiers for the final day, with scores of 81, 73 and 83 for 237.
