HUGH HUNTER'S CLACKMANNAN ROUND-UP

At 12 years and eight months, Lawrence Allan from Alva has netted a significant number of golf trophies. In addition to the Clackmannan County Junior Stroke and Match Play titles won earlier this season, he scooped the Alva club championship title last weekend, beating his father’s achievement by some three years.
Lawrence Allan must be the youngest club champion of any golf club in the country - unless someone knows differently (e-mail the information to colin@scottishgolfview.com)
With two rounds of 69, he qualified for the final stages by taking one of the eight spots available in the match-play section. He then proceeded to eliminate other qualifiers, notably the defending champion, Kevin Macfarlane, in the semi-final, followed by a 6 and 5 victory over Andrew Bain in the 36-hole final.
Already his handicap has dropped from ten to seven and there is undoubtedly more to come. Well done, Lawrence on this outstanding achievement!

ALVA JUNIORS IN TOP FORM

Even although Lawrence Allan was missing from the team line-up, Alva juniors continued their unbeaten home record against the smartly turned out Tillicoultry team. The Alva Juniors now top the league and will be tested in a crunch away game against the Alloa Juniors this weekend.
The tie between Braehead and Dollar was postponed.

Results:
ALVA 4 1/2, TILLICOULTRY 1 1/2.
(Alva names first)
Gary Elliot beat Callum Carberry 3 and 2.
Daniel Ashe halved with Scott Hunter
Scott Thomson lost to Scott Baird 1 hole
Darren Young beat Jonathan Imrie 3 and 2.
Adam Ashe beat Steven Watson 3 and 2.
David Fisher beat Kevin Ross 3 and 1.

MID AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Phil Hendry (Alloa) and Gordon Lyons (Tulliallan) just missed out on the 16 qualifying places at the Scottish mid-amateur championship over the Duddingston course in Edinburgh. After the 36 hole stroke play qualifying, Phil was one shot too many with rounds of 77 and 74 for a 151 aggregate and Gordon was a further three shots back on 154 (82,72)
