VIKKI ONE OFF THE PACE IN KANSAS CITY

Musselburgh exile Vikki Laing continued her improved run of form on the United States Futures Tour with one-under-par 71 in the first round of the $80,000 Mercedes Benz of Kansas City Championship at the Leawood South Country Club.
Vikki had an undistinguished outward half of two-over-par 38 over the 6,277, par-71 course before finding her touch with an inward two-under-par 33.
She is in joint fifth place, one shot behind the four joint leaders, Kim Augusta (Rhode Island), Brandi Jackson (South Carolina), Liz Janangelo (Connecticutt) and Emily Bastel (Ohio).
Natasha Morgan, from South Wales, a student at Lynn University, Boca Raton, Florida, had an 85 (41-44).


CALLUM IMPROVES AT ALPHARETTA, GEORGIA

Callum Macaulay from Tulliallan, in the last week or two of his four years’ golf scholarship at Mississippi University, is on the seven-over-par 151 mark and lying 64th equal with one round to go in the NCAA Division 1 men’s East Regional championship at the Golf Club of Georgia’s Lakeside course in Alpharetta.
Callum has had rounds of 79 and 72. He birdied the ninth, 14th, 15th and 18th in his second round but had bogeys at the third, sixth, 12th and 17th.
Jacksonville University’s two Scots, Russell Knox from Inverness and Duncan Stewart from Grantown on Spey are on 152 and 153 respectively.
Knox has scored 74 and 78 while Stewart has had 82 and 71.
Cameron Tringale (Georgia Tech) leads by two shots with 67 and 70 for four-under-par 137.
