SAMMY'S 76 IS THE LOWEST SCORE SO
FAR FROM THE LGU TEES
AT LOCH NESS COURSE, INVERNESS

Sammy Vass, the 15-year-old Tain Golf Club top prospect, has returned the lowest score recorded from the LGU tees at the Loch Ness Course, Inverness in winning the Northern Counties' girls competition for the McDermott Trophy.
She returned a card for a 76 over a 5,387yd course which has a ladies' par of 71 and an SSS of 70.
Neil Hampton, Golf & Marketing Manager commented:
"The course was changed to the new lay-out in August 2005 and we have only been playing on it since then. Unfortunately the old lay-out was very tough and resulted in almost all of the lady members playing elsewhere and very few coming to visit."
"Sammy's score is the best that we have had over the new lay-out but I am hesitant to label it as a course record, given that we have had so little female play over the course so far."
"The changes we made have certainly attracted a lot of new members and scores have improved dramatically but once again the number of ladies playing has not really increased yet - apart from on our nine-hole course which has proved very popular with everyone."
"I am trying hard to change people's perception of Loch Ness Golf Course and lose the "monster" tag (from the playing sense) and I will be writing to Sammy to congratulate her on her excellent score and encourage her to return and shoot an even lower round."
