HENDERSON TOP SCOT AT ROYAL WATERLOO
By MICHAEL GIBBONS
Press Officer, European Challenge Tour
Aberdeen’s Scott Henderson leads the Scottish charge at the European Challenge Tour’s Telenet Trophy at the Royal Waterloo Golf Club in Belgium, just a couple of miles from the scene of Napoleon Boneparte’s famous defeat in the Battle of Waterloo.
Henderson carded a creditable two under par 70 to lie five shots behind the leading Belgian pair of Nicolas Colsaerts and Didier De Vooght in a first round. His scorecard contained four birdies and two bogeys.
George Murray, the 2004 Scottish amateur champion from Anstruther - he finished seventh at last week’s A.G.F. Allianz Golf Open de Toulouse - opened his week with a one under par 71, the same score as Carnoustie’s Eric Ramsay.
Euan Little is the next best Scot in the field on one over, with Jamie McLeary three over and Andrew McArthur and Peter Whiteford on four over.
