VIKKI LAING GETS IT
TOGETHER AT LAST
FOR A TOP-10 FINISH
AND $1,554 PAY DAY

Former star amateur Vikki Laing's tour professional career has never really got off the ground but, at the age of 26, the Musselburgh exile still harbours hopes that she will turn her fortunes around one year.
It could be this one.
In the latest event on the United States Futures Tour - the Jalapeno Classic over the Palm View course at McAllen in southern Texas, Vikki, pictured right, had her first pay day and her highest finish for some time.
Miss Laing, a one-time Curtis Cup player for Great Britain & Ireland and once ranked in the top-20 US college players during her four years at the University of California-Berkeley, finished joint seventh in Texas with scores of 74, 69 and 71 for a two-under-par total of 214. Her pay check amount to $1,554 - not enough to throw a party but enough to suggest that the good times may not be too far away for the blonde Scot.
Emily Bastel from Ohio collected the $10,500 first prize with scores of 70, 68 and 72 for a six-under-par tally of 210.
Another Ohio player, Angie Hill came second with 71, 70 and 71 for 212. She earned $7,500.
