MEMBERSHIP FEE ON
US HOOTERS TOUR
Scott Jamieson, the Cathkin Braes player who topped the Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit before turning professional last year, is competing on the Hooters Tour in the United States and is in the field for this week’s event, the Savannah Lakes Resort Classic at Monticello Golf Club, McCormick in South Carolina.
Jamieson, 23, pictured right, has played in two events so far. He won $2,758 for a share of 22nd place in the Auburn-Opelika Classic with rounds of 70, 69, 69 and 73 for seven-under-par 281 but missed the cut in his second appearance in the Capitol Chevrolet Classic with scores of 70 and 75.
Also playing on the Hooters Tour is Colin Speirs from Dunkeld. He has missed the cut in all four of his events this year.
It is not cheap to play on the Hooters Tour. The annual membership fee is $2,000 and there is a hefty entry fee for every tournament. But the prize money is relatively good. Last week’s winner collected $33,000.
Both Jamieson and Speirs played the American college circuit for a number of years.
