DUBAI, Dec 7 — The first round of the Omega Dubai
Ladies Masters was suspended today following the tragic
death of caddie Maximilian Zechmann at Emirates

The 56-year-old Dubai-based Austrian was caddieing for
France’s Anne-Lise Caudal when he collapsed on the 13th
fairway.

After being attended to by paramedics, Mr Zechmann was
taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Mr Zechmann is survived by his wife Elinor and three sons,
Maximilian, Ryan and Marco.

Play will resume on Thursday at 08:15.
England’s Florentyna Parker had made seven birdies
on the back nine of the Majlis Course to take the early
lead in the first round, three strokes ahead of United
States player Cheyenne Woods.
Frenchwoman Jade Schaeffer and Australian Whitney
Hillier were both on three-under-par after three and five
holes respectively when play was suspended at
10.30am local time.
Hillier had earlier made a hole-in-one on the 171-yard
fourth hole with a 6-iron.
It is not clear if the players will resume from where they
left off today or go back to Square One.
