Local hero George Burns leads Boyd Quaich
tournament with a round to go
A third-round 68 for a 54-hole tally of 207 from George Burns, pictured below, has given the University
of St Andrews student a two-shot lead over George Williams (70 for 209) from the
University of Central Florida with one round to go in the prestigious Boyd Quaich Memorial international students' tournament at St Andrews.
Other notable third-round scores were
68s from Ross Dutton (Ulster University), now tied third on 211 with Stuart
Easton (Western Kentucky), and Craig Hughes (Strathclyde University) who is joint fifth with Chris Maclean (Stirling University) on 212 together with Chris Maclean (Stirling University).
The fourth and final round on the Old Course
begins at 7am on Thursday.
The field after Round 2 was reduced to 30 players,
with the cut falling at +8.
