Jamie Duguid is Lothians' boys'
champion FROM THE LOTHIANS GA WEBSITE Jamie Duguid (Dunbar), pictured right, was crowned the GolfFit Lothians Boys Champion for 2016 at The Braids last night when he overcame Finlay Goodlad (The Glen) in the final 5 and 4. In temperatures that were not as warm as for the quarters and semi finals, Finlay's putter was also not too hot and he struggled on the greens in the early stages. Jamie turned 2 up and thereafter won three of the next five holes to seal his victory. In the U16 final Cameron Gallagher (Longniddry), pictured below, left, defeated clubmate James Morgan 4 and 3. Again Cameron captured an early lead and held on through the turn to stretch ahead in the back nine to ease to the win. In the U14 final Valdemar Hunderboll (Longniddry) charged to 3 up after three holes against Cameron Adam (Royal Burgess), pictured below, right. However, Cameron steadied the ship at holes 4 and 5 before reeling off a sensational run, winning the next seven holes to be five up through 12, eventually winning 6 and 5. Congratulations to the prize winners and to all the players who participated in this year's championships for the standard of their play and for their sportsmanship and excellent conduct throughout. Our thanks to all the spectators who turned out to watch this evening, the referees for keeping order in each of the matches and to Edinburgh Leisure for preparing the Braids again to the highest of standards. And special thanks to our major sponsor GolfFit for their support and to the Stephen Gallagher Foundation for trophies and prizes for the U16 and U14 championships. RESULTS U18 Final Jamie Duguid (Dunbar) bt Finlay Goodlad (The Glen) 5 and 4 U16 Final Cameron Gallagher (Longniddry) bt James Morgan (Longniddry) 4 and 3 U14 Final Cameron Adam (Royal Burgess) bt Valdemar Hundeboll (Longniddry) 6 and 5. |

02/06/2016 | All Set For Finals Night At The Braids |
Following
another glorious night at The Braids which featured some high quality
matchplay golf in the semi finals of the GolfFit Lothians Boys
Championship, we are all set for finals night on Thursday evening
In the U18 semi finals Jamie Duguid (Dunbar) overcame the challenge of David Rudd (Longniddry) to set up an intriguing final against Finlay Goodlad (The Glen) who followed up his defeat of leading qualifier Lewis Reid (Craigielaw), pictured right, in the quarter finals with a solid 2 and 1 win over Nathan McCulloch (Kingsknowe). In the U16 championship James Morgan (Longniddry) defeated Liam Currid (Gogarburn) 3 and 2, while in the other semi final, good friends and fellow team members from the Stephen Gallagher Foundation team which played in the recent Dispatch Trophy, Cameron Gallagher (Longniddry) and Connor Wilson (Dunbar) fought out a close match with Cameron winning the match 2 Up. In the U14 championship it was nip and tuck through the back nine between Valdemar Hundeboll (Longniddry) and Ciaran Paterson (Ratho Park) when the lead exchanged hands several times between the players. Though Valdemar was 1 up through 13 he found himself 1 down after 16 but levelled the match at the 17th and claimed the 18th to win the match one up. In the second of the U14 semi finals it was a less close affair, with Cameron Adam (Royal Burgess) taking an early lead at the 2nd against Lyle Murdoch (Kings Acre) and was 2 up at the turn, easing ahead to claim the match 4 and 2. |
