Fotheringham lying third at rain-hit Euro mid-am

Fotheringham) ended a rain-hit first day in third place with a
one-under-par 71 in the European men's mid-amateur golf championship at
Karlovy Vary Golf Club in the Czech Republic.
Fotheringham had a double bogey 7 at the long second but birdied three par-5 holes: the sixth, ninth and 11th as well as the par-4 14th.
He dropped a shot at the par-5 18th in halves of 37 and 34
Play
started three hours late because of the weather and there was another
suspension of play later with the result that nearly half the field have
still to complete their first rounds.
Robert McKerron, also of Forres, had played only nine holes when play ended. He reached the turn in 46, nine over par.
Sweden's Henrik Henningson leads by one with a three-under 69 with Edouard Penin (France) in second place with a 69.
