Fraserburgh's Kris Nicol (Paul Lawrie Golf Cemtre)
won the Scottish Golfers' Alliance championship and the £1,200 first prize at Duff House Royal Golf Club, Banff today (Thursday).
Level
with stablemate Greg McBain and Grantown on Spey's Duncan Stewart,
playing out of Turnhouse, three clear of the field with a round to go,
Nicol (pictured) outscored his rivals with a one-under-par 67 for a 54-hole
aggregate of two-under-par 202.
Challenge
Tour player Stewart signed off with a 69, finishing two behind the
winner with a 204 total. one-over 72 for a total of 204 That earned him
£900.
Stewart
finished three shots clear of the trio who shared third place on 207
- Neil Henderson (Renaissance). McBain and rookie pro John Duff
(Newmachar). They each earned £500
Malcolm Pennycott (Royal Burgess) won the Clydesdale Bank Quaich and a £500 value voucher for finishing as the leading amateur on 208. He had a very good closing round of level par 68.
Nick Macandrew (Royal Aberdeen) finished as the second best amateur with a 71 for 211 and earned a £350 value voucher.
Ross Cameron (Saltire Energy) had the best final round of two-under 66 and finished seventh overall, collecting £200.
Next year's Scottish Golfers Alliance Championship will be played in Ayrshire, hosted by Irvine Bogside Golf Club.
