Scottish Seniors' Autumn Meeting at Nairn Dunbar on Thursday, Friday
By GORDON THOMSON
The Scottish Seniors Golfing Society
circuit moves to Nairn Dunbar Golf Club on Thursday and Friday for the Autumn
Meeting, sponsored by McCrea Financial Services.
There is a
healthy entry for the event with a good mix of ages and handicaps and all are
looking forward to the challenge of playing one of the best courses in the
North of Scotland as competition hots up for the Order of Merit titles ahead of
the Finals Day shoot out at Blairgowrie on Thursday 10 September.
Ronnie Clark (Erskine) leads the Order of Merit race and is
defending the title which he won last year at Panmure. Senior international captain, David Gardner (Broomieknowe) lies one point behind Ronnie but is
not playing at Nairn Dunbar as he takes a break ahead of the European Senior
Team Championship in Bulgaria from 1 to 5 September. Paul Moultrie (Royal
Troon) lies third and
will be keen to close the gap on Clark.
Lindsay Blair (Grangemouth) leads the Handicap Order of Merit
race but misses the event due to next week’s trip to Bulgaria so Keith Reilly
(Silverknowes), George Barrie (Callander) and Kenny Harrison (Carluke) will all
be looking to close the gap.
Tom Sirel
has a good lead in the Super Seniors (over 65) Order of Merit and will be
hoping to stay ahead of closest challengers, Ken Thomson (Bramall Park ) and
Colin Halcrow (Windyhill ) who are in action at Nairn.
