Calum Fyfe leading Scot in joint 10th place at Copt Heath

Penge pulverises Paul McEvoy Trophy opposition

By COLIN FARQUHARSON

Marco Penge (Goodwood), pictured, blew away the opposition with a final round of five-under-par 66 to win the Peter McEvoy Trophy boys' tournament by eight strokes at Copt Heath Golf Club, Solihull in the West Midlands today.
Penge, who started his victory campaign with an impressive 65 on Wednesday, led from wire to wire with subsequent rounds of 71, 70 and then that 66 for a professional class 12-under-par total of 272 over the par-71 course.
Runner-up was the 2013 winner and 2014 runner-up, Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park) with scores of 69, 69, 71 and 71 for 280, a total sometimes low enough to win the prestigious title. But not this year against the sustained brilliance of Penge.
Calum Fyfe (Cawder) finished as the leading Scot in joint 10th place with scores of 75, 72, 69 and 73 for a total of 289.
Christopher Curran (Harburn) and Sandy Scott (Nairn) came next on the 292 mark, Curran with scores of 71, 73, 73 and 75; Scott with 74, 69, 71 and 78.
That last round took the shine off Scott's performance which had seen him play steadily over the first three rounds.
Will Porter (Carnoustie), the new Scottish boys champion, missed the halfway cut.
