Aberdeen Asset Management, the global investment management group, has announced a new player sponsorship with the signing of Inverness-born golfer Russell Knox as one of its brand ambassadors.

Knox, 29, based at Jacksonville Beach, Florida since he spent four years at Jackonville University and a pro golfer since 2007, is currently playing on the US PGA Tour and will be seen playing in the Sony Open, Hawaii this week.
He is currently 23rd in the Fed-Ex standings and 104th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

As part of the agreement, Knox, pictured above in action at Royal Aberdeen last summer, will wear the Aberdeen Asset Management corporate logo on the collar of his golf shirt and play in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in July 2015.

Aberdeen has been a long-time golf sponsor and Knox will join a portfolio of sponsored players which includes Colin Montgomerie, Paul Lawrie, Martin Laird and Catriona Matthew.

The deal will promote the Aberdeen Asset Management brand in the US and around the world.

Martin Gilbert, CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management said: “We are delighted that Russell has joined the Aberdeen family of golfers.  We very much look forward to working with him in the US and back home in Scotland for our flagship event the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open”

Russell Knox commented: I am thrilled to partner with Aberdeen Asset Management. As a young Scot, I always aspired to join their team of ambassadors, many of whom were my idols as I grew up in Inverness dreaming of playing professional golf. I am honoured to represent Aberdeen”
