KEIR McNICOLL WINS £700 PRIZE IN SHOTTS'

 
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS' TOURNAMENT

Gullane's Keir McNicoll (pictured above) fired a pair of 69s today (Monday) to add to his first-day 72 to win the first prize of £700 by two strokes with a level par aggregate of 210 in the Shotts Golf Club's young professionals' 54-hole tournament.

McNicoll, who hails from Carnoustie and whose father was a professional footballer with Dunfermline Athletic, opened the door to his rivals by bogeying the fourth and seventh in the final round but a birdie at the ninth and an eagle 3 at the long 10th steadied the ship and he covered the remaining holes in level  par with birdies at the 14th and 15th cancelling out shots dropped at the 11th and 16th.

Paul O'Hara (Clydeway Golf), pre-tournament favourite, tied for second place with Tom Dingwall (Kemnay). They each earned £537 for hitting the 212 mark, O'Hara wih rounds of 72, 72 and 68, Dingwall 73, 71 and 68.
