DEFENDING SENIORS CHAMPION BROTHERSTON LOSES AT 22ND
Title-holder Ian Brotherston (Dumfries and Co), pictured, was beaten by Richard T Gray (Irvine) at the 22nd hole in the quarter-finals of the Scottish senior amateur men's match-play golf championship at West Kilbride GC today. In another last-eight surprise result top seed John Fraser (Royal Burgess) was well beaten, 5 and 4, by Derek Murphy (Kinross). In Friday morning's semi-finals, it will be Gray versus Ian Taylor (Royal Burgess) and Murphy versus David Gardner (Broomieknowe).
