SuperMac surges out of danger
and into contention in Holland

A stunning run of five consecutive birdies saw Scotland’s Andrew McArthur surge from the cut line into contention at the European Challenge Tour’s Dutch Futures. The 29-year-old former Scottish amateur champion from Glasgow's Windyhill lies just three strokes behind clubhouse leaders Chris Gane and Andrew Tampion.
McArthur was one over par at the start of the second round at the Golf Club Houtrak on the outskirts of Amsterdam and looking in danger of missing the weekend action before a sensational burst of form ensured a round of five under 67 and a four under aggregate of 140 – just three shots off the lead – heading into the final 36 holes.
While McArthur was charging up the leaderboard, another Scot, Peterculter's Greig Hutcheon, third after round one, had a day to forget after a three over 75 for 144 saw him fall back into 39th place.
Tartan Tour No 1 Chris Doak managed to stay on track, finishing with a second round 71 to move to three under 141 and just four shots off the pace.
Richie Ramsay matched the par of 72 for 143.
Three other Scots, Scott Henderson (Kings Links), Eric Ramsay (Carnoustie) and Dutch-based Peter Smith missed the halfway cut in Holland. Only those with 36-hole totals of 146 or better survived to play the last two rounds.Henderson had a 72 for 148, Peter Smith a 73 for 149 and Eric Ramsay a 72 for 149.
