Scots beat Wales but Ireland are

champions at Muirfield

Ireland followed up their win in the European team championships by winning the Home Internationals' Raymond Trophy at Muirfield today for the first time since 2003.They beat England 10-5 on the last day to complete the programme with a 100 per cent record.

Scotland, who beat Wales, finished runners-up with two wins and one defeat, taking second place ahead of defending champions England who lost the services of Eddie Pepperell early in the tournament. He was too ill to play after the first day. Jamie Abbott joined the squad for the final day.

George Crawford was captaining Scotland for the last time in a Home Internationals Series. He stands down after the Eisenhower Trophy world amateur team championship in Australia later this year.
