Bryce Milne wins North seniors title
for first time at age of 68

Elgin's Bryce Milne, at the age of 68, completed his portfolio of North District Championships at Muir of Ord today when he won the senior title for the first time.
Twice a winner of the North District Championship, in 1970 and 1977, and the North of Scotland Open Championship in 1980, the life-long Elgin member has always retained a Category 1 handicap and only last month won the Inverness Senior's Open with a handicap bursting score of 72.
Last year at Golspie Milne was beaten in a play-off for the Macallan North Senior title but with three over par 71 (35-36) at Muir of Ord today, he enjoyed his first win by two shots over Nairn's Pat Tommison.
Bryce's outward card included bogeys at the second and ninth and birdies at the fourth and seventh. On the back nine he bogeyed the 11th, 16th and 18th.
Pat Tommison had halves of 37 and 36. He lost a ball at the 11th for a double bogey 6 in an inward 36.
A shot further back came former winner Robin Wilson (Brora) and Alex Findlay (Torvean).
Robin's halves were 36 & 38, with two 6s on the back nine, and Alex had two halves of 34.
The scratch winner of Category A, Paul York (Royal Dornoch) was the defending champion and the scratch winner of Category D, Ian Nalder (Nairn) was the Senior Champion in 2001.
