ELLIOT SALTMAN JOINS BROTHER LLOYD
IN ASIAN TOUR FINAL Q SCHOOL FIELD
Both Elliot Saltman and his older brother Lloyd will play in next week's Asian Tour Final Qualifying School.
Lloyd was given exemption through to the final stage but Elliot had to battle his way through a Stage 1 eliminator at Borneo Golf & Country Club this past week.
Elliot did it with nothing to spare. His rounds were 74, 69, 71 and 70 for a four-under-par total of 284. He finished joint 18th, right on the limit mark for qualifying. A total of 19 players on 284 or better made it through to the Final Stage.
Fellow Scots John McKenzie and Jack Doherty failed to make it. McKenzie scored 72, 79, 70 and 72 for joint 40th place on 293.
Doherty had a bad last round when a good one would have got him through. Jack scorted 75, 71, 72 and 77 for 295 and joint 50th place.
England’s Gregg Blainey and American Mark Baldwin earned medallist honours at the two venues today.
Blainey carded a four-under-par 68 in the final round to win at Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club while Baldwin also carded a similar round to finish on top of the leaderboard at Borneo Golf and Country Club.
A total of 40 players progressed into the all-important Final Stage next week where 40 Asian Tour cards will be at stake.
