NEWS FROM PGA EUROPRO TOUR

 

DEAN IS LEADING SCOT IN SUFFOLK

 

Dean Robertson was the leading Scot at the end of the opening round of PGA EuroPro Tour’s Stoke byNayland International Open at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club in Suffolk.

Robertson was in joint 11th position overnight after a two-under-par 70 which included a double bogey at the eighth. Out in two-over 38, Dean repaired the damage with birdies at the 11th, 14th, 16th and 17th for an inward half of 32.

Graeme Brown from Montrose shared 24th place on the 71 mark despite running up a triple bogey 7 at the 10th. Out in 33, thanks to birdies at the second, sixth and eighth, Graeme needed birdies at the 12th and 16th to help him home in two-over 38.

Paul Doherty (Vale of Glamorgan) and Ross Cameron from Ellon were both on the 73 mark with matching halves of 36 and 37.

Colin Mitchell from Blairgowrie had a double bogey at the sixth in halves of 37 for a 74 – two ahead of Jack Doherty (Vale of Glamorgan) who had a double bogey at the fourth in halves of 39 and 37 for a 76.

The first-round lead on five-under-par 67 was shared by Englishman John Wells and Guy Woodman and Irishman David Jones.
