Girls' and Women's Home Internationals at Dundee venue this week

By CAMERON McLAY
Scotland’s boys’, girls’ and women's teams are set to compete later this week as the 2019 Home Internationals get underway.
Taking place at Ashburnham Golf Club in Wales, from August 6 to 8, the Scottish boys’ team travelling to Wales will include two recently crowned national champions: Cameron Adam who won the Scottish boys’ U16 boys open championship, and Ruben Lindsay who won the Scottish U18 boys’ amateur championship at Blairgowrie.
Lindsay will be joined by Longniddry’s Cameron Gallagher who finished runner-up in the boys’ Amateur. A delighted Lindsay said, “It is a huge honour to represent Scotland, an achievement that fills me with pride. I am looking forward to the event and being back in a team environment again.”
The Girls' and Ladies’ events will both take place at Downfield Golf Club, Dundee between August 7 and 9.  The Scotland Girls’ team will include recently crowned Scottish Girls Amateur Champion, Katy Alexander, who came out on top of a strong field at Blairgowrie in July.
Alexander will be joined by Aboyne’s Carmen Griffiths who recently represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Junior Vagliano Trophy.
After being selected for the upcoming Home Internationals, Griffiths told Scottish Golf, “I am super excited to be selected for the event again this year. It is always an honour to represent your country. I love playing as part of a team and can’t wait to team up with the girls for an exciting few days golf.”
The Scotland women’s team will include 2019 Scottish Women’s Amateur Champion, Kimberly Beveridge, as well as Shannon McWilliam and Hazel MacGarvie who recently represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Vagliano Trophy.  Hannah Darling, who competed in the Junior Vagliano Trophy, also makes the squad.
In 2018, the Scotland women's team were the winners of the Home Internationals. It was the first time Scotland had won the event since 2010.
Scottish Women’s Amateur Champion Beveridge said, “I am absolutely delighted to be selected for the Home Internationals team. It is an honour to representing Scotland at the event and I can’t wait to be part of the team.”
