Adam comes out on top in Scottish U16 boys' open play-off at Royal Burgess

Cameron Adam, pictured, came out on top in tense fashion at his home course, Royal Burgess, winning the Scottish U16 Boys Open Championship title at the second play-off hole.
After today’s final round, there was nothing to separate Adam and France’s Theodore Reitter on four-under par. Reitter birdied the last hole in regulation play, holing a clutch five-footer, to force a play-off with Adam only able to make par.
The play-off saw both players head back up 18; with Reitter only able to make par, Adam saw his putt for the win slip agonisingly by.
At the second time of asking, Adam hit a stunning tee shot into the heart of the par-4 18th green with Reitter coming up short in the bunker.
Reitter was unable to get up and down for birdie meaning two putts were enough to secure victory for Adam. Speaking to Scottish Golf after his victory, a delighted Adam said, “It’s not quite sunk in yet I don’t think; I’m still stressing over that putt on the last to be honest. “I could have made it a lot easier, but then again I’ve made up a lot of shots and holed a lot of good putts so that’s golf.” On having to regroup after giving away a two-shot lead with two to play, Adam said,
“I didn’t play very good golf over the last few holes. The fact I was at my home club and have played it so many times made me more relaxed than I should have been. I’ve been playing here for so long and knowing the greens was a nice help for the confidence as well. Outwith the play-off, round of the day belonged to Ireland’s Joshua Hill, whose four-under par 67 saw him miss out on the play-off by a single shot.
