MATTHEW CLARK WINS PHILLIPS TROPHY BY 11 STROKES AT MURCAR

Matthew Clark (Meldrum House) scored one of the biggest-margin victories in recent years of the North-east District's 36-hole Phillips Trophy tournament  when he finished 11 strokes clear of the field at Murcar Links today (Sunday). 

Although it was disappointing that a number of players either withdrew or failed to turn up because of the wet weather conditions or "injuries," the quality of the field was, nevertheless, of a very high standard and that was born out by the scores on a difficult day weather wise.

The standard scratch score was 75 in the morning and 72 in the afternoon.

Matthew Clark posted a three-under-par 68 in the morning and a five-under 

66 in the afternoon for an eight-under total of 134

Adam Dunton (McDonald Ellon) finished second on 145 (76-69) with Barrie Edmond (Bon Accord) third on 146 with scores of 77 and 69.
