NE ALLIANCE REDUCED TO 16 HOLES AT NEWBURGH

Phil McLean wins with a par 65 over

shorter course in stormy weather

Today's North-east Golfers' Alliance fixture at Newburgh on Ythan Golf  Club was reduced to 16 holes after the later groups could not play the 15th and 16th holes due to excess water.
Secretary Alan Gall is working out the field of 91's scores over 16 holes.

Alan tells us that Phil McLean (Peterhead) scored his second scratch win of the Alliance season with a score of 65 for the 16 holes against a par of 65 in very stormy conditions.
His cash prize was £170.
McLean's previous win this season was at Ballater at the Ron Menzies Memorial Trophies fixture on October 10.
Leading scratch scores today at Newburgh:
par 65 for 16 holes
65 Phil McLean (Peterhead).
66 Kris Nicol (Dunes Golf Centre)
67 John Duff (Newmachar).
68 Fergus Bisset (Banchory).
