AUSSIE SCOT MORRISON LEADS CAMERON CORBETT VASE TOURNAMENT

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Australian-based Scot Robbie Morrison has taken his time to find his feet on his extended golfing holiday "back home" but has got his act together in time to lead the field at halfway in the prestigious 72-hole open tournament, the Cameron Corbett Vase, at Haggs Castle Golf Club.
Morrison, a member of Royal Perth Golf Club Down Under, has had rounds of 67 and 68 for a nine-under-par tally 135 and has a one-stroke advantge over Glenbervie's Graeme Robertson (68 68) with Highlander Jeff Wright from Forres in third place overnight on 138 (66-72).
Morrison had two eagles in his opening round - a 3 at the par-5 fourth and a 2 at the par-4 13th - but he also stumbled with a double bogey 6 at the 12th before he finished the round brilliantly with birdies at the 16th, 17th and 18th.
Robbie had a bogey-free second round of four-under-par 68.
Robertson, a regular winner on the Scottish open tournament circuit, had an eagle at the first hole in his first round and after dropping some shots in the middle of his round, birdied the 15th, 16th and 18th to stay within striking distance of the leader.
Wright had an eagle in his first round 66 but took six more shots in his second round with three birdies being cancelled out by three birdies.
First-round leader Joe Bryce (Bathgate) slumped from an opening 65 to a second-round 77 with halves of 37 and 40.
He eagled the first in his second round but that was the highlight. It was all uphill after that. He had a triple bogey 8 at the fourth and another shot shed at the 6th. After turning in 37, he bogeyed the 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th and 17th.
+A total of 40 players with 36-hole tallies of 148 and better qualified for Sunday's third and fourth rounds.
