SCOTS PATERSON AND WALKER LOSE IN SOUTH AFRICAN SEMI-FINALS
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Hopes of an all-Scottish final to the South African men's amateur golf championship were dashed this afternoon (Thursday) when John Paterson (St Andrews New) and Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) were both beaten in the semi-finals at Durban Country Club.
Paterson, all square after 13 holes, lost the 14th and 16th in going down by 2 and 1 to South African Chris Woolam.
Walker, who squared his match at the 17th and then halved the 18th in birdies, lost at the 20th to another home player, Deon Germishuys.
In the morning quarter-finals, Paterson won by one hole against Jayden Schaper (South Africa) while Walker had a 5 and 4 win over Gregory McKay, also South Africa.
