SCOTS PATERSON AND WALKER THROUGH TO

 SOUTH AFRICAN QUARTER-FINALS

Two Scots - John Paterson (St Andrews New) and Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) - have won their way through to the quarter-finals of the South African men's amateur championship at Durban Country Club.
Paterson, conqueror of Scottish champion Sam Locke (Stonehaven) in the first round of the match-play, went on to beat South Africans Herman du Plessis (2 and 1) and Matt Saulez (3 and 2).
Walker also beat two South Africans in rounds 2 and 3 - Jeremy Freiburghaus (5 and 4) and Christo Lamprecht (1 hole).
Cawder's Calum Fyfe beat Neal Woernhard (Switzerland) 4 and 3 in the second round but lost by one hole to South African Deon Germishuys in the third.
