Scots Rory Franssen and Jamie Stewart help Missouri 

University extend winning sequence

VERONA, New York State. - In what turned out to be a record-setting event, the Missouri University men's golf team claimed its sixth-straight Turning Stone-Tiger Intercollegiate title.
 Head coach Mark Leroux's squad dominated play on the Kaluhyat Course, shooting 20-under-par over three rounds and netting a 50-stroke final advantage over team runners-up UNCW (+30).
The huge margin of victory for Mizzou marks the Tigers' largest win during its run of team trophies at Turning Stone, topping their previous record lead at the event of 25 strokes in 2013.
For the first time ever at the Turning Stone tournament, all five Tigers in Leroux's official line-up finished in the Top-5 individually.

Senior Hayden Buckley (Belden, Miss.) led the charge for the Black and Gold, nabbing his first-ever championship, courtesy of the 7-under-par tournament he played over three rounds (72-67-70 -- 209). Buckley was the first Tiger to win the event outright since Ryan Zech did so back in 2014. Buckley's second round 67 was also the low round of the tournament.

Buckley and sophomore Rory Franssen (pictured right) from Inverness battled all weekend for the individual crown. The senior outlasted the underclassman Scot, winning top honours by one stroke. It was a record setting weekend for the pair, though, as both Buckley and Franssen set new career bests for par-72 tournament scores, as they shot 209 and 210, respectively. This was also the second runner-up finish of Franssen's young career.
In the third slot for Mizzou was junior Matt Echelmeier (Columbia, Mo.), who secured the second Top-5 finish of his career. Echelmeier finished just six strokes off of Buckley's championship pace (74-70-71 -- 215), and finished 54 holes with a score under-par for the third time in his collegiate career.
The freshman duo of Jamie Stewart , pictured below, from Renfrewshire and Jack Parker (Columbia, Mo.) both made their collegiate debuts at even-par, which was good enough to see them share fifth place. Stewart came out hot in Day One, but cooled on Day Two (70-72-74 -- 216), but still managed his stout Top-5 placement. Parker closed effectively his tournament at

Turning Stone, firing a third round 69 that brought his name back near the top of the leaderboard.
Mizzou's individual competitor, senior Trevor Ullestad (Jewell, Iowa), played well in the sunshine in Round Three, posting a final round 68, which was the best single-round performance of his career, thus far. His 54-hole 220 was good enough for seventh place, individually.
The Tigers next hit the links in Valentine, Nebraska, where they will compete in the Jackrabbit Invitational (Oct. 1-3).
