Colin Halcrow leads Super Seniors with a

71 at windy Largs

By ALASDAIR MACGREGOR
The first round of the Scottish Senior Golf Society's Super Seniors (age 65+) took place at Largs today.
Breezy conditions and a few showers made scoring difficult, but Colin Halcrow (Windyhill) returned an excellent 71.  He bogeyed the third, eighth and ninth in an outward half of 36 (+3), and had further bogeys at the 15th and  16th.
However, birdies at the 13th and 17th gave him an inward half of 35 (level par) and a total of 71.  He leads by two shots from William Erskine (Kilsyth Lennox) who reached the turn in five-over 38, before a steady back nine of 35 gave him a 73.
In third spot is Andrew Laird (Deeside) with a 74.  Andrew birdied the fifth and sixth, but a bogey at the third and a double bogey at the seventhth meant that he was out in 34 (+1).  He had five bogeys on the back nine to come home in 40 for a total of 74.
