Ed Wood forges clear to win Cameron Corbett Vase for second year in a row at Haggs Castle

Crow Wood's Ed Wood, the defending champion, covered the last 54 holes in 12 under par, made up of an eagle and a barrage of birdies, to win the Cameron Corbett Vase Order of Merit 72-hole tournament by five strokes at Haggs Castle Golf Club, Glasgow today.


With one round to go, Wood was only a stroke ahead of Euan McIntosh (Turnhouse) who had such a fine tournament season in 2016 but he was left trailing in the winner's wake even though McIntosh shot a respectable par round of 72 on the last circuit.
Steven Rennie (Drumpellier) finished third with a closing 71 for 282, one behind the runner-up.
Adam Fisher (Newmachar), runner-up in the Boyd Quaich students' tournament at St Andrews earlier in the week, had a hole in one at the 11th in his third round. He finished T11 on 291 with a final round of 75. He had a 71 - his best of the four - in the third round!
