Aberdonian Sim still chasing return to top
flight of US pro golf
Western Australia’s Aberdeen-born Michael Sim will continue his attempt to get back to the top echelons of the game when he makes his third Web.com tour start of the year at this week’s Digital Ally Open in Kansas.
Sim, pictured right, has received a sponsor’s invitation to play the tournament as the Scot, who spent the first seven or eight years of his life at the Aberdeen suburb of Westhill before the Sim family emigrated to Australia, desperately tries to recapture the form that saw him win three times on the secondary circuit in 2009.
That earned Sim immediate promotion to the US PGA Tour but a series of injuries in the seven years since has derailed his career.
After Monday qualifying for both the Rust Oleum Championship and Lincoln Land Charity Championship in June, Sim will be hoping to make his first cut of the year in America.
