MATTY WILSON WINS NORTH BOYS'

 TITLE BY 11 SHOTS

Matty Wilson (Forres) scored a runaway victory by 11 strokes over 36 holes in the North of Scotland boys' golf championship for the Spence Trophy at Maverston Golf Club, Morayshire today (Sunday).
Wilson shot rounds of 73 and 71 for a four-over-par total of 144 in windy conditions over the 6,089yd, par-70 parkland course near Elgin.
Runner-up was Logan Gillies (Nairn) with scores of 76 and 79 for 155, a shot ahead of third placed Jamie MacKintosh (Nairn) who returned a pair of 78s.
Ross Donachie (Nairn)) won the Alister Paterson Trophy for the best net total of 136 (64-72) off a handicap of 36. He won by eight shots from Euan Neil (Inverness) (handicap 12) (73-71) and William Nicol (Nairn Dunbar) (14) (70-74) both on 144.
The Under-16 years' scratch section was won by Calum Scott (Nairn) by 10 shots with rounds of 72 and 79 for 151.
Second on 151 was Ben Patience (Fortrose and Rosemarkie (81-80 for 161) and third was Grant Ross (Brora) (84-80 for 164).
