Duncan McNeill outgunned at Lone Star

Invitational as winner shoots 20 under par

Duncan McNeill from Annan, a student at McNeese State University, finished T45 in a field of 79 players at the UTSA/Lone Star Invitational college tournament at Briggs Ranch Golf Club, San Antonio, Texas, writes Colin Farquharson.

Duncan, pictured, had steady rounds of 74, 72 and 73 over a long par 72 course of 7,247yd. But his three-over total of 219 put him well down the field, so high is the general standard of golf on the USA men's college circuit.
Max McGreevy (Oklahoma) was the runaway winner of the individual event, shooting brilliant rounds of 69, 63 and 64 for 20 under par 196. Not surprisingly, Max won by six strokes and helped Oklahoma (824) win the team title by four shots from Illinois with Mississippi State (837) third.
McNeese State (859) tied for seventh place in a field of 15 teams.
