Recalling Youth Internationals in the 1960s

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
This is the last Scotland v England youth international details available to me .. the 1965 match at Northumberland Golf Club where the Scots maintained their excellent record by beating England 10.5 to 4.5.
Once again Scotland laid the foundation of overall victory by taking a clear lead from the morning foursomes into the singles.
At Northumberland, it was 3.5 to 1.5 but in 1965 Scotland also hammered England in the singles, by a 7-3 margin!
Interesting to see the names that would go to bigger and better things. For Scotland there was J Scott Macdonald, George Macgregor and Andrew Brooks.
The England line-up included Clive Clark and Peter Townsend.
