Russell Knox finishes 16th in the Bahamas

Matsuyama wins Hero World Challenge as

Tiger proves toothless in final round

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) -- Hideki Matsuyama of Japan won for the third straight time Sunday, holding off Henrik Stenson over the final few holes to win the Hero World Challenge.
Matsuyama, who started the final round at Albany with a seven-shot lead, never let anyone closer than six shots heading to the back nine. The final nine holes were a struggle, however. He closed with a 1-over 73 to win by two shots with a total of 18-under-par 270.
Matsuyama's earlier rounds were 65, 67 and 65.
Stenson shot 67, 71, 66 and 68 for 272.
A double bogey on No. 10 and a three-putt bogey on the easy 14th by the Japanese player allowed Stenson to get within three shots with four to play. Stenson three-putted the 15th for par and couldn't apply any more pressure.
Tiger Woods, in his first tournament in more than 15 months, shot 76 and finished 15th. His earlier scores were 73, 65 and 70. His final total was four-under-par 284.
Russell Knox, the Florida-based Scot from Inverness, had scores of 69, 72, 71 and 74 for 16th place on two-under 286.
The tournament's starting field consisted of 18 players, which was reduced to 17 when Justin Rose withdrew after the first round.
