Forsyth breaks Downfield pro record with a 62

Alastair Forsyth (Mearns Castle) set a new professional record score for the Downfield Golf Club course in Dundee today with an 11-under-par round of 62 to win the £5,400 RRS Discovery pro-am by five shots from Chris Kelly (Taymouth Castle), Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs) and Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf).
My earlier story had Forsyth's 62 as 10 under par but as Kenny Hutton, the Downfield club's senior pro, explains: 
"The PGA printed our scorecards wrongly. The par at Downfield is actually 73 (the 11th is a par 5 but they had it down as a par 4) so Alastair scored -11. Also the previous pro record was 65 by Paul Lawrie and Andrew Crerar, but the amateur record is 63 (-10) by Graham Bell who is again doing brilliantly alongside Nick Robson and the Senior boys out in Slovenia!
So, Forsyth, who earned £950 for his record round, had two eagles (fourth and seventh), eight birtdies (sixth, eighth, ninth, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th - and one bogey, at the second.
The Mearns Castle Golf Academy pro also led the amateur team of Kevin Webster (handicap 5), Drew Webster (2) and Paul Teviotdale (scr) to an eight-stroke victory in the pro-am team event with a 20-under-par total of 124.
