Jacques Leglise Trophy boys' international v Continent of Europe

Jamie Stewart beaten as GB and I trail by 5pt

Great Britain and Ireland trailed by 5pt after the Continent of Europe won both the foursomes and the singles on the opening day of the boys' international match for the Jacques Leglise Trophy at Prince's Golf Club, Kent today.
Jamie Stewart (Old Ranfurly), the only Scot in the home side, was not fielded in the foursomes which the Continent won 3.5 to 0.5
Stewart was brought into the line-up for the singles but he lost by two holes to France's Adrien Pendaries who birdied the 13th and 14th, followed by an eagle 3 at the long 15th, winning all three holes to lead for the first time in the match.
Stewart rallied with a winning birdie at the 16th and won the 17th with a par to be one down playing the last. But the Scot had to concede the 18th and went down by two holes.

M Penge and A Fitzpatrick (Eng) halved with M Svensson and P Nyholm (Swe).
K LeBlanc and T Mulligan (Ire) lost to A Pendaries and E Catherine (Fra) 5 and 4.
M Power (Ire) and T Briggs (Eng) lost to K Reitan (Nor) and A A Martin (Spa) 1 hole.
H Goddard and C Strickland (Eng) lost to M Schmitt and F Hanisch (Ger) 3 and 2.

Penge lost to J Goth-Rasmussen (Den) 1 hole.
J Stewart (Sco) lost to Pendaries 2 holes.
Mulligan lost to Svensson 6 and 5.
Power lost to Nyholm 2 holes.
Fitzpatrick bt Hanish 1 hole.
LeBlanc bt Catherine 1 hole.
Briggs lost to Reitan 2 holes
Strickland bt Schmitt 5 and 3.
