Six Scots make flying start in chase for £10,000

PGA EuroPro Tour prize

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Six Scots have got off to a great start in the chase for the £10,000 first prize in this week's PGA EuroPro Tour 54-hole tournament at Close House Golf Club, Northumberland.
Louis Gaughan (Bathgate), Kris Nicol (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre), John Henry (Clydebank and Dist), Wallace Booth (Eastwood), James Steven (Clydeway Golf) and Fraser McKenna (Balmore) all shot three-under-par 68s to end the first day in a multiple tie for fourth place.
They are one shot behind the trio setting the pace on 67 - Englishmen Robert Watson and Adam Hodkinson plus Welshman Richard James.

Other Scots in the top 20 are Callum Macaulay, joint 13th with a 69 and Sean Lawrie (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and Archerfield's Zack Saltman, T19 on the 70 mark.

For one Saltman it was not a good day. Lloyd shot a 77 to be sharing 131st place overnight with little hope of making the top 50 and ties who will advance to the third and final round.
